e statistics were published in St. Louis Bride & Groom Magazine in 2003. Sources include: Simmons, 2001; USA Today, 2002; AFTER THE VOWS....

The following information was released concerning the outcome of Weddings with regards to entertainment.

72% of all Brides say that they would have spent more time choosing their Reception entertainment.

Almost 94% of all Brides say they would have spent more of their budget on the entertainment.

65% of all couples that chose a band to entertain at their Wedding Reception said,
“If they had to do it over again they would have chosen a Disc Jockey”.

When asked, 81% of guests say the thing they remember most about a Wedding is the entertainment and whether or not they had a good time.

During the planning of a Wedding, brides say their highest priority is their Wedding attire, followed by the Reception site and caterer. Reception entertainment was among the least of their priorities. After their Reception, 78% of all Brides say they would have made the entertainment their highest priority when choosing their Wedding professionals.

84% of all Brides said that having a Master of Ceremonies who provides guidance throughout their event should be a very important aspect when booking an entertainment company.
Keep in mind that I and or my assistants do provide guidance throughout your entire reception.

I will personally invest at least a minimum of thirty hours ( counting our in person consultation ) in the pre-planning stages of your wedding reception and your assigned DJ/MC will contact you within two weeks prior to your big day to introduce themselves and to go over all of your details for your reception.

10 Questions to ask a DJ before your hire a DJ/MC

1. Have you commited yourself to follow the ADJA Code of Professional Conduct?

2. Are you insured? Can you supply me with proof of liability?

3. Will you be willing to play requests and discuss music ahead of time?

4. Do you use Professional Equipment?

5. Do you provide backup equipment at my event?

6. Does the Disc Jockey know the proper etiquette for your type of party?

7. How much time do you allow for set-up?

8. Do you provide a written contract?

9. Will you be suitably dressed for our occasion?

10. Do you belong to a professional organization or trade group?

Other Items to Note
Disc Jockey rates vary based on talent, experience, emcee ability, service, coordination, equipment needed, music knowledge, mixing ability and personality.

Rates for the DJ industry vary greatly, ranging from $150.00 to over $5,000.00 plus with an average of $1,200.00 for a 4 hour booking. The best price is not always the best deal, especially if you are planning a wedding. As a matter of fact, surveys conclude that nearly 100% of brides would have spent more money on their entertainment and made it their #1 priority in hindsight. Note that we do not charge $1,200.00 for a 4 hour wedding for the simple fact of todays economy and because of our general area of service. Most people in our area simply cannot and usually will not pay $1,200.00 plus for their DJ/MC, although we do feel that our services are worth at least $1,500.00 and we may make it to this point one day, when and if our economy ever recovers.

A full-service disc jockey company will normally invest 12 to 30 hours to your special event but it may appear that you are only paying for “4 hours”. Consultations, music purchasing & editing, preparation, set-up and tear-down, education and other business related endeavors add up to the overall success of your special occasion. If you choose the option of professional coordination, we guarantee that we will invest between ten to twenty hours in the pre-planning stages of your event well in advance, BEFORE your event date even arrives.
