I specialize in wedding receptions which means that I take great pride in customizing each one of my clients desires for their special day. With all respect I am often told by my clients that they have no idea of what to do for their reception and my response to them is simply just relax and leave the details in my hands. As I have already stated I do not consider myself to be just the average DJ because when you reserve my personalized services you are also hiring me to be your Wedding Reception Director.
The following is just my standard timeline for a three to four hour reception. Of course, my main goal is to listen to you and your desires for your special day and upon your request I will gladly make as many suggestions as needed and incorporate your desires and my suggestions to make sure that your reception is in fact the best wedding reception ever.
On the BIG DAY……
I will arrive at your reception venue within two to three hours prior to our agreed start time to properly setup my equipment, do sound checks, coordinate details with your venue management, caterers, etc. and of course get dressed.
Once my equipment is setup and in operation I will gladly start to play background music once your first guest arrives, even if they arrive before our agreed start time.
Once I feel that the majority of your guests have arrived I will introduce myself and make sure to make any special announcements that you may wish for me to make such as but not limited to, signing your guest book, where the gift table is, where the restrooms are if unnoticeable, etc.
Upon your approval while you are with your photographer and while we are awaiting your arrival to your reception venue, I and or my assistant will do music trivia, name that tune, and other interaction games to keep your guests entertained while waiting for you to arrive. It is at this time that we will also do you Love Story Trivia if you desire to fill it out. You will receive your Love Story Trivia questions once you reserve my services. If you have a lot of children present we will also do music trivia to songs that the children will have to ask the adults for help with and the first child with the right answer will win a small prize. Of course all of this is done with your approval and before your arrival to your reception venue. Note that I do highly recommend a mixture of top 40 hits from yesterday during this period of time, but of course this is your choice.
YOU HAVE ARRIVED……
Usually either I or my assistant will be waiting outside for your arrival however I do ask that you send someone inside to alert me of your arrival. Once I know that you have arrived I will ask all of your guests to be seated. At this time, if you have requested FORMAL INTRODUCTIONS of your Wedding Party, either I or my assistant will come out to line everyone up in the order that you provide on your planning tools. Once everyone is lined up and ready and once your Photographer is ready, WE WILL HAVE YOUR INTRODUCTIONS and the celebration will be underway. Note: There will be a pause in between each introduction for pictures.
Once you are introduced you can either go into your First Dance as husband and wife or you can simply relax until the food is ready to be served. I do recommend that you have your special dances following the meal, toast and cake cutting because this allows you time to relax.
If you are having a buffet I will be happy to release each table so that your buffet line is not long.
Usually once I notice that everyone is almost finished eating, I will alert whomever is supposed to pour the beverage for the toast that we are ready to start pouring so that we can have the toast once all plates are cleared from the table.
Once the toast has been given, I will ask if any other person would like to give a special comment upon your approval. Once all comments have been given, I will announce that you will make your way over to the cake for the cake cutting, but please take your time.
All of your special dances will take place approximately ten minutes following your cake cutting ceremony.
Once all of your special dances are recorded into memory, I will ask that the both of you remain on the dance floor and I will ask for all of your guest to form a circle around you for a dance called Stand by Me by Ben King. This will open the dance floor for your first dance set for approximately thirty minutes.
If you elect to have the honeymoon/dollar dance, this will take place following your first open dance set. If not, we will have a couple of special dances at this time which I will explain once you reserve my services as these dances are somewhat a secret of mine.
Once we have your honeymoon/dollar dance and or special dances, I will announce for the ladies to get ready for the Bouquet toss and the men to get ready for the garter toss which will take place soon. But first, we will open up the floor with a special interaction activity and following will be dancing for about thirty minutes.
LADIES & GENTLEMEN.....
Its time for the bouquet and garter toss which I like to add a little secret fun to. We will discuss the fun when you reserve my services. Following the bouquet and garter toss, we will open the floor back up with a few slow beats and then into the celebration to remember.
Your farewell dance will take place approximately twenty minutes to the conclusion of your reception.
